Blog Tour & Giveaway: Annabeth Neverending by Leyla Kader Dahm

Book Blurb:

At first, teenager Annabeth Prescott thinks she’s found quite a deal when she talks down the price of an ankh pendant she discovers at a flea market. She soon wonders if the bauble is more than she's bargained for when she faints and glimpses images from a past life in ancient Egypt.

The discovery coincides with another new find: Gabriel, a handsome young man who takes an interest in her. When she meets his twin brother C. J. at a Halloween party, she realizes they look exactly like two boys who figure prominently into her memories.

Does C. J. share the heroic qualities held by his past incarnation Sethe, her bodyguard when she was Princess Ana? Does Gabriel possess the same evil powers he wielded as Kha, the black sorcerer who sought her affection?

Love meets the supernatural in this gripping young adult paranormal romance. Readers with an interest in reincarnation, as well as ancient Egypt, will be drawn to its mystical mixture of history and hesitation as Annabeth sways between the two brothers.

Will her reincarnated soulmate win out? Or will Kha finally find the way to her heart?

My Review:

3.5 Out of 5 Stars

Genre: Another-World, Romance, Royal-Court, Supernatural, Teen--

Annabeth is starting her new job of antique hunting with her neighbor when she finds an ankh necklace she is drawn to. When she picks up the necklace, she gets visions from another time when she was another person. Annabeth gets flashes from a life in Egypt, and it becomes so real for her that she even experiences the same feelings in her everyday world. When familiar faces from the past start showing up around her, Annabeth is not sure what life she is living anymore.

There is so much going on in this book. We have an awkward teen who is dealing with a strange sleeping disorder, questions about being adopted and uncertain of who she is, unexplained scary sleeping disorders, mix in a love triangle that spans centuries with brothers, Ancient Egypt history, tons of drama in both worlds and evil machinations and this is the result. This was such an complicated story, full of twist and huge bombs, but at the same time there was also the underlying idea of a girl just trying to figure out who she really is. I was not certain what I was going to be reading, but I was pleasantly surprised by what I received.

I found Annabeth to be a strange combination of innocent naivety but then at times she had an ease with which she handled herself, especially in the face of a charming experienced boy, that gave her an air of experience. At times I could not believe her actions, and wanted to shake some common sense into her.Honestly, at times I found her actions to be so ridiculous that it made me have a hard time relating to her and had her feel slightly flat as a character. I wanted to like Gabriel for his fun personality, but his past made it hard for me to really like him. I honestly was expecting evil misdeeds left and right from him. CJ I could tell would be a good guy, but I felt like he was more of an idea of goodness and virtue than an actual real person. The characters themselves where whatever, but the part that I found the most intriguing was the mystery and the connection between the two times.

I think anyone who enjoys Egyptian mythology and enjoys a romance in the form of a complicated love triangle, would really enjoy this book. The ending has no resolution just more problems, so expect to need the next book right away to find out what happens next. Overall this was interesting new story.

I received this title in return for my honest review.
